At Tekne Gymnastics we understand how early physical training has a proven impact on children’s development. It is our aim to teach in a fun, safe and nurturing environment that promotes confident, happy, young athletes. We take our craft very seriously as we know this is a really important time for our pupils.
All our coaches are British gymnastics qualified and DBS checked. Our head coach Des Aspill, has taught for over twenty years and is committed to providing a quality course of gymnastics encompassing general gymnastics. We are currently teaching in many schools in the Hampstead and Camden area. Every year we come together to participate in our Tekne Festival, held at South Hampstead High School, giving our gymnasts the opportunity to develop an insight into a gymnastics competition.

If you have a budding gymnast stuck on a move, this is a great way to get them to advance or if you have a bouncing monkey at home who has never done gymnastics before this is a really fun introduction to the sport.
With games and challenges for all abilities, this holiday camp welcomes children at all levels from 3yrs to 16yrs old.
We have classified our classes as follows: Tumblies, Springers, Bouncers (Beginners), Bouncers (Intermediate), Bouncers (Advanced), Jumpers, Jumpers and Twisters, all classes are based more on ability than age, so please contact Susi for more information. All our gymnasts are assessed at regular intervals and as their abilities develop, they will have the opportunity to move on to the next class.
These are our infant beginner classes where we teach through stories, songs, and games and is a really fun lesson where we start the structure of training.
Our Tumblies progress to our Springers class once they have started mastering the basic gymnastics moves, again turn taking and fun interaction feature strongly in this class as do mastering progressions for gymnastics moves.
The stretches and progressions for moves are more obvious. Experience with apparatus has a strong part to play. These kind of exercises at this age are crucial in building body awareness, control and thus confidence.
This class focuses on further building on the core aspects of gymnastics, such as strength, shape, and flexibility in order to develop more complex acrobatic skills.
There is more emphasis on progressions in this class; gymnasts are growing in confidence through strength conditioning, which assists in mastering the more technical gymnastic elements.
In this class, the gymnasts are working with shapes progressions for moves like cartwheels and tick-tocks. The children are getting a real grounding for the sport.
This class is all about consolidating progressions into skills. The classes are more structured, designed to increase skill, strength, flexibility, and stamina.
These classes are invite only. Gymnasts should be able to complete different elements in order to be invited to join these classes which are directed on a more challenging route.
