Classes - 1 to 1 of 1

icon Tekne Classes

Our classes are run on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Saturdays and are classified as follows: Tumblies, Springers, Bouncers, Jumpers and Twisters. The ages associated with the classes are for a rough guideline only. All our gymnasts are assessed at regular intervals and as their abilities develop they will have the opportunity to move on to the next class.

We test for British Gymnastics Badges each term and we introduced our new Tekne Badges in January 2014. These badges are based on strength and conditioning, both of which are essential for budding gymnasts.

Tekne means Technology and dexterity so through the technology of communication we strive to create a body full of dexterity.

Tumblies

This is our junior class where we teach through stories, songs and games and is a really fun lesson where we start the structure of training. There are many important first lessons, like turn taking and fun interaction. On the technical side, all the shapes, rolls and movements are directly related to gymnastics moves. It is the most exciting class as results of training come almost immediately.

Springers

This class also leads with fun games, but the stretches and progressions for moves are much more obvious. Experience with apparatus has a strong part to play. These kind of exercises at this age are crucial in building body awareness, control and thus confidence.

Bouncers

In this class the gymnasts are working with shapes progressions and some first moves like forward rolls. The children are getting a real grounding for the sport.

Jumpers

This class is all about consolidating progressions into skills. The classes are much more structured, and there are drills to help children find their potential. We strive to have a very good teacher to pupil ratio so each gymnast receives the coaching they need to fulfil their potential .

Twisters

This class is designed to set the pupils on a path of discovering real potential in the sport. The classes are structured and designed to increase skill, strength, flexibility and stamina ready for more advanced skills

These classes are held at The Village School, 2 Parkhill Road, London, NW3 2YN

Development and Advanced classes

These classes are run on Tuesdays from 6.30pm and on Saturdays from 9am and are invite only. Gymnasts should be able to complete different elements in order to be invited to join these classes and are directed on a more challenging route.
